Let's Play Road Rash - Amiga 500!

Road Rash ( 1991 ) Platforms: Sega Genesis, PlayStation, Master System, Nintendo 64, 3DO Interactive Multiplayer, Sega Saturn, Game Boy Advance, Game Boy, Amiga, Game Gear, Atari ST.  Road Rash took the ingredients from Yu Suzuki's Hang On and introduced clobbering. It's unbelievable to think that nobody had thought of introducing violence of this manner into a racing game before the likes of Road Rash. I grew up like many playing the Sega Megadrive version, which let's face it, is still one of the best bike racing games to appear on SEGA's console. The second iteration of Road Rash is even better, instead of changing the fantastic gameplay of the original, you just get more of the same great racing.  It wasn't until a few weeks ago I even realised that Road Rash was a thing on the Commodore Amiga. It features everything that made the Megadrive version the phenomenon we all know and love but the Amiga version for whatever reason does take a slight hit on the speed.

Copter 271 - Amstrad GX4000 Retrospective

When I think back to the GX4000, at the time I was the only person in my family and circle of friends that owned a GX4000. I remember regular trips to Dixons, the electrical retailer (now known as Curry's) where they had a display for the GX4000, they had about 15 games that you could select and sample. I think some were demos, but you got enough of an insight into how it played and the quality of the graphics. The graphics were definitely an uplift from the stock CPC models and the sound seemed much improved as well. I played Burnin Rubber on regular visits after school along with Robocop 2 and a few others. It wasn't long before I purchased my own, despite several friends and the store manager warning me away from it. To this day, despite the failure, I still love to play Burnin Rubber, once you get into it and change the horrible default control setup, you have a timeless challenge. The same is true of Pang, SwitchBlade, Robocop 2 and Fire and Forget 2, to name just a few.

OutRun 2006 is 13 years old already!

Playing Outrun 2006 Coast to Coast for the first time on PC. Resolution set to maximum and highest graphical detail including lens flair. I've chosen route 'A' as it's definitely a favorite of mine. This is a truly unbelievable racing game, captures the spirit of the first game marvelously well. I've played the PSP version, PS2, Xbox, and now PC! All amazing!!! My system is a Dell Inspiron, i7, 16GB Ram, Nvidia GeForce GTX. Nothin beats the original 1986 Yu Suzuki game 'Outrun', but this sticks to the road just as good!

Let's Play Crazy Cars 3 - Amiga

The Craziest race on the 8 and 16bits! #CrazyCars #CrazyCars3 #RetroGaming #Amiga #PC #AmstradCPC # AtariST I first played Crazy Cars 3 on a display Commodore Amiga on the second floor of WHSmiths. Not only was this game supremely well-programmed, for me it was one of the best racing game I'd played since Outrun in the arcade.  In this particular racer, you competed against other street racers and worked your way through four divisions. You could even increase your chances of earning extra cash to buy a challenge license that enabled you to play a bonus level that you needed to win in order to progress. You would do this by betting against the other drivers and raising funds rapidly should you pull off a win.  The graphics, sound, and controls are some of the best I've seen on the Miggy, unfortunately, that was the last time I played the Amiga version until many years later, the good news is that I had it on the Amstrad CPC and whilst it wasn't in the same division, I playe

Games that showed the power of the SEGA 32X

I owned the Sega Megadrive but could never justify the price or the conception of owning a 32X! I must admit that I was slightly disappointed that SEGA didn't just release this as a console in its own right. I would definitely have upgraded. Big mistake for SEGA as we all know, but some of its games are really playable and look fantastic! Don't believe me, see for yourself.
