Nintendo Famicom Disk System

Image
I've just discovered the Nintendo Famicom Disk System and despite the language barrier, I've discovered several games that I believe are fantastic to play and own. For those new to my channel or just curious about anything retro gaming, this really is a nice little discovery. The Nintendo Famicom Disk System appears to have over three hundred games and these are just a small peek inside what this console has to offer. This is part 1, if there's enough interest, I could be tempted into doing part 2.

Forty GameBoy Games To Play Before you die!

Image
Some of my best gaming moments were had on Nintendo's Gameboy handheld. It wasn't long before I upgraded to the Gameboy colour, then Gameboy Advance, before later joining the Nintendo 3DS club. But Nintendo's first handheld holds so many great nostalgic memories for me that I wanted to share some of them. Join me as I run down on my favourite top 40 Gameboy games.  #TopfortyGameboyGames #BestGameBoyGames #Gameboy #GameboyGems

Top 25 NES Games! Unbelievable console

Image
Top 25 NES Games! I missed out on the NES the first time around, largely due to Nintendo not taking Europe seriously as a market in the early days. Years later I discovered the NES and started to collect for it. It was apparent to me straight from the off that this console was a notch above the British 8bit home computers I’d played around with years earlier. These are my personal favorite games, the games I come back to the most, and the ones that left their mark on me. This is also a great guide for those discovering the NES for the first time, as I’ve played almost every game the system has to offer. Thanks for your support, leaving a comment, or rating my video! I really appreciate it. Please subscribe and like :)) Thanks.

How Nintendo revolutionised gaming

Image
I found this old Nintendo article the other day, I took it from a free a mag, called Shortlist from back in September 2015. They basically interviewed Shigeru Miyamoto (director and designer) from Nintendo. The article gives massive insight Shigeru Miyamoto and the people who worked with him, it's reassuring to know that the people testing the game just didn't want to go home, played it into the wee hours of the morning, obviously up and being paid overtime for ironing out all of those nasty mushrooms bugs. Anyway, below you'll find a high-resolution scan of the entire article, hopefully, you'll enjoy reading it as much as I did...

Super Mario Run - iOS

Image
Ouch! £7.99. FFS! Screw you Nintendo! That's bloody expensive, but take my money you dirty rotten scoundrels. But know this, I'll forever hold a grudge against you. It's quite sickening what Nintendo have gone and done here, they've given us the first few levels for free, hooked me in, and then fleeced me of £7.99 of hard earned sterling. I'm already addicted (business as usual Nintendo)! The lure and temptation are too much with the first four levels being bloody brilliant, easy to control and capture you from the start. I'm enjoying it, but that price has left a bitter sickness deep within. The world tour mode, the only one I've discovered thus far, appears to consist of only six measly worlds, with four sections within each and the "end level" boss at the end of each section. The first world is easily pushed aside but does enough to prepare you for the trials that lie ahead. The second world reminds me why I hate Mario games; it's not...

SNES Classic Console

Image
What's next for Nintendo? The NES Classic has sold out! More have been promised and I've already seen them selling on eBay for crazy prices. Here's the thing, I wager Nintendo are already considering a Super Nintendo classic console, with thirty maybe more great games. Here're fifteen of my own personal must-have games to be included with the system. Star Fox, Super Star Wars, Mario Kart, Mortal Kombat, Super Mario World, Axelay, Street Fighter II Turbo, Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, Chrono Trigger, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Super Metroid, Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, Secret of Mana, Earthworm Jim 2 and Contra III: The Alien Wars. There's much more I'd like to see, but Nintendo can be a bit stingy when it comes to their back catalogue of games, especially the Super Nintendo, you can see this play out with their current availability and pricing structure within the WiiU and 3DS virtual console, so not holding ...

Donkey kong Jr - Zx Spectrum

Image
Just a few thoughts on the tribute game made with AGD, for the Sinclair ZX Spectrum. It's great and everything, but I'm confused? I'm still a massive fan of the original Donkey Kong arcade-style platformer from the 1980's. It is said to be the game that launched the career of Shigeru Miyamoto, but more importantly, Mario and Donkey Kong. The game went on to give Nintendo international stardom, with Miyamoto creating a legacy so powerful, that Nintendo and Japan should pray daily for his continued existence. However, Donkey Kong Jnr wasn't a great sequel, in fact, Miyamoto himself thinks it's a weaker game. It sold well, but so did the USGOLD home conversion of Outrun, so sales don't really mean diddly squat, in regards to us gaming enthusiasts. I did like the way this game reversed the characters roles, with Kong now caged and Mario becoming the antagonist. The game featured a good premise as well, instead of ...

2016... The year of Nintendo

Image
I’m not the worlds biggest Nintendo fan, but of late, the software being released, has started to massively turn my head. For instance, I’ve spent the last couple of nights, and early hours of the morning, playing the awfully spectacular Bravely Second: End Layer, Stella Glow, Kid Icarus: Uprising and now the all new Demo, Hyrule Warriors Legends… What’s happening within Nintendo? The latter plays like a bunch of retro games all carefully stitched into one, at times you feel like there’s a bit of Gauntlet going on, a touch of Smash TV and bags of Sword of the Berserk. The rest, including strategy elements, borrowed from the best games of Nintendo's past. It's early days, but the demo has definitely got me excited.  I’m desperate for more, shame the demo doesn’t last long, I completed it in less than thirty minutes, especially when you consider i’m still playing the demo version of Bravely Second, and already several hours in. Still, I’m really excited about the 3DS...

Top Gear - SNES - 1992

Image
Based on speed alone, Top Gear on the SNES craps all over the likes of F-Zero and F1 Exhaust Heat! There, I’ve said it. Top Gear is just so damn fast! But there's much more to this wonderful game!   In Top Gear, you get to race through seven different countries, each one comes with its own events. In this you race through the streets of Paris, a sprawling metropolis, and the Sahara Desert; you notice all sorts of famous landmarks on your way to the finish line. There are finely layered tarmac roads, dusty roads, and mud entrenched b-roads. The  night racing looks and feels amazing, but there’s a constant fight for visibility. Motorways can be up to eight lanes wide; impressive when you consider the sheer amount of cars on screen at any one time. Your car is also equipped with three nitro boosts; as with the game ChaseHQ, save ‘em for the long straights. You can choose from four vehicles, but I think the blue car gives the better balance, having a top speed of 137mph...

Super Mario World - SNES

Image
A few weekends back, I was trawling through a local car boot sale and caught the gaze of a SNES looking back at me. It was loosely boxed, with lots of games piled horribly high, the majority were tightly packed and squashed together. As you can imagine, a worst case scenario for a SNES cardboard box. Within seconds, I asked the guy "how much?" [trying my best not to prove overly desperate] He replied "er dunno, give me twenty". I paused for a few seconds and was just about to snap his hands off when his mate piped up and said "you can have that lot for a fiver, we're not taking anything back with us" he then proceeded to throw in even more goodies into an already overcrowded box. Seconds later, the box now included an N64, a ZX Spectrum +3 and several more games including a copy of Super Mario All-Stars, which brings me to my review. I was never a fan of the early NES Mario games until Super Mario World came along on the SNES. I enjoyed Mario in...

Nintendo NDS

Image
Here's an interesting fact, guess how many NDS units have sold to date? How about this then, just under  147.86  million (only the PS2 has sold more), with the new Super Mario Bros being its best selling game, totalling 27million. According to Nintendo, hardware sales of the NDS are still good, and they'll continue production as long as software sales stay strong. No surprise there then, as the NDS has served people well, and will probably continue to do so for many moons to come.
