OutRun 2006 is 13 years old already!

Image
Playing Outrun 2006 Coast to Coast for the first time on PC. Resolution set to maximum and highest graphical detail including lens flair. I've chosen route 'A' as it's definitely a favorite of mine. This is a truly unbelievable racing game, captures the spirit of the first game marvelously well. I've played the PSP version, PS2, Xbox, and now PC! All amazing!!! My system is a Dell Inspiron, i7, 16GB Ram, Nvidia GeForce GTX. Nothin beats the original 1986 Yu Suzuki game 'Outrun', but this sticks to the road just as good!

Great Fighting Games!

It`s time to roll up your sleeves and fight for your life! Grab those nunchucks, tighten that belt and get your shuriken death stars at the ready. Meanwhile, back on earth, this article celebrates all those weird and wonderful fighting classics, powered by pixel push and 3D technology! So kick back, grab a slice of pizza and in no particular order... kick some ass! If I missed off your favourite fighter, it's probably because I never played it, but please comment and recommend all the same. I'm always looking for a good scrap. Virtua fighter 2, Arcade and Saturn, released 1994 The Sega Saturn was butchered by the Playstation, but VF2 (Both coin-op and Saturn version) were the highlight of the 90s 3D proving grounds. Virtua Fighter 2 doesn't get boring, you just improve, with the fight becoming more tactical the further you progress. Master one character and it's back to basics for the next. Virtua Fighter 2 came w...

Limbo - Commodore 64

Image
One of the greatest games ever made is now on its way to the Commodore 64! Originally developed by Danish studio Playdead, they've given the go-ahead for Søren Trautner Madsen to code the game for the C64. Limbo's visual style is amazing, especially when you consider the games this went up against on the Xbox One and PlayStation store, it truly was an inspiration in gaming. This puzzle based platformer, sounds like it's in the early throws of development, and who knows, maybe there's a possible Amstrad CPC and ZX Speccy release planned down the line. The bad news is, we're probably going to have to wait a while, although I can't help think that being a paltry 64 or 128k game, surely this should speed up the process? Oh well, I'm quietly confident the game will still be brilliant if it one day does eventually arrive on the C64. Until then, fingers crossed and bring it on!

Consoles Vs PC

Image
"Don't bother with consoles, buy games for your PC instead", I was told recently; I laughed it off. You see, my time spent playing games on the PC has been somewhat of a roller coaster ride. Before I explain why, I need to refer back to my first ever home computer, The ZX Spectrum and games such as Ant Attack, Death Chase and Sabre Wolf, which left a lasting impression and pushed the machine to its limits. Later on, around 1984, I transitioned to the Amstrad CPC. There were some really great games, Prince of Persia, Operation Wolf, and Renegade, to name but a few. I ain't gonna lie, I developed a sheer hatred for Speccy ports and the amount of games that forced me to play out my survival tactics in a small restricted window. This, for the most part, we're told was an absolute necessity, because in order to get the likes of Operation Wolf and Wec-Le Mans running comparatively near to the standard of the arcade original, something had to give, and that...

GRAND THEFT RIP-OFF

Image
Computer games have always been better than movies, not a lot of people knew that until now. In its first weekend, GTA V has made over a billion dollars, with sales showing very little signs of slowing. It's currently the biggest world Rockstar have ever created, some 50  kilometres  in size, and an interaction level the likes we've never seen before, but at what cost? The industry is talking about GTA being the most expensive game ever created, costing over £170 million, with five years development, double the cost of GTA4 . First day sales were estimated to be around £500 million. A milestone for Rockstar games, yes, but what about the loyal fans that helped put them there? I'm all for celebrating advancements in technology and gaming, but I'll personally need to wait until GTA V  shows up in a random bargain bin or local car boot before splashing the cash anytime soon. Not because I'm tight or skint, because I've got a life and more important th...
